Sesame Street Meets Sci-Fi at Universal Studios Singapore

Sesame Street at Universal Studios Singapore Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Big Bird and Oscar are expanding their reach in the New York section at Universal Studios Singapore. A new immersive ride, the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase, will take riders on a science fiction-inspired adventure that features lovable and familiar humor and music from the popular show. The attraction brings the educational children’s series alive, and is scheduled to open at the park on March 1st.

Last year, Universal Studios Singapore added a few Sesame Street shows to their daily programming. The shows experienced huge success in their first year, so the park decided to expand its repertoire with a new attraction. Dennis Gilbert, Senior Vice President of Attractions says of the ride, “Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar and other loveable characters of Sesame Street have captivated the hearts and minds of our guests, testament to their popularity. We look forward to continuing the Sesame Street experience with the launch of this new ride, packing in even more fun and excitement for the whole family visiting the park.”Sesame Street charactersThe dark ride will take guests on an adventure full of surprises, special effects, and familiar characters. The attraction stars 12 of the most beloved characters from the popular show, and introduces 3 brand new characters developed exclusively for the new ride. Guests will be introduced to Macaroni the Merciless, Zester, and Shredder, super villains who are plotting to steal all of the spaghetti and noodles on the planet. Riders will become part of the Sesame Street world, as they are sent on a mission with Super Grover and Super Elmo to dismantle the evil villains’ sinister plot. If guests are successful on their quest, the missing spaghetti will be returned to the kids of planet Earth.

In celebration of the attraction’s launch, Universal Studios Singapore has a special line up of events for the weekend of March 1st-3rd. The park will be having its first Sesame Street Carnival, which will feature exclusive character meet-and-greets, life sized board games for guests to play with characters, special kiosks with Sesame Street merchandise, and never-before-seen shows featuring some of the show’s familiar favorites.

Sesame Workshop President and CEO H. Melvin Ming is excited about the expansion at Universal, saying that, “The adventures never end with Sesame Street, and Universal Studios Singapore is extending the fun with Grover, Elmo and the rest of the Sesame friends. Sesame Street’s thirty year history makes it the longest running children’s program of all time, so fans of the show will love the new addition at Universal Studios Singapore. We’re excited to see this important educational brand staking a bigger claim in the theme park world.
