Exciting New Attractions Slated For Aquaventure Waterpark In Dubai

This city of Dubai is famously hot: last July, it reached record-setting temperatures of 119 degrees Fahrenheit. So it’s no wonder that water-themed attractions are so popular in this tropical desert destination. It’s already home to the Ski Dubai attraction in Playmania (one of our five best snow and ice experiences), as well as the potential site for a one-of-a-kind underwater hotel. So it’s no surprise that Dubai’s Aquaventure Waterpark will soon be seeing some exciting and revolutionary changes and expansions.
The Aquaventure Waterpark is located at Atlantis The Palm Hotel and Resort and is already considered one of the top water parks in Europe and the Middle East. This 42-acre oasis is home to a variety of water-based experiences, from river rides to interactive marine animal adventures to scuba diving to the edutational Lost Chambers Aquarium which recreates the mysterious ruins of Atlantis. It also hosts an area designed exclusively for children, featuring elaborate water games, rope bridges, and interactive climbing frames. You can even find an iteration of the utterly terrifying Leap Of Faith waterslide, which takes you plummeting down over a nine-story descent before zooming through a clear acrylic tube surrounded by sharks (its sister slide at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas made our list of five craziest water slides).
But Aquaventure isn’t content to rest on its laurels. Last week, the park announced it would be undergoing an expansion to add even more components to its already versatile lineup. This August, the park will debut a feature called the Tower of Poseidon, which will be over 130 feet tall. Several unique new waterslides will launch directly from the Tower including the world’s largest diameter slide and the world’s first vertical family ride. But perhaps the most innovative new slide will be the world’s first double slide within a slide experience which will allow tube riders to watch fellow ride sliders in action suspended above them.
These inventive new slides aren’t the only attractions that will originate with the Tower of Poseidon as a starting point, either. The Tower will also be the launch site of what will be the longest zipline circuit in the Middle East, and the first zipline circuit to be integrated into a waterpark tower. Riders will be able to whiz over the waterpark and Aquaventure’s beach area as they enjoy a bird’s eye view of the park.
Aquaventure will also be adding a new river ride, which will be nearly a mile and a half long (the longest one in the Middle East). It will incorporate tidal waves and pools, and will float riders past nearly a half a mile of sandy white beaches.
Last summer was the hottest one on record all over the world, and this year it’s sure to get even hotter. But residents of and travelers to Dubai will have all sorts of destinations where they can cool off and catch some relief from the heat. Thanks to Aquaventure’s impressive planned expansion, they should be able to remain on top when it comes to water-based attractions in Dubai this summer.
